What Can Older People Learn From Us?

The Preview of the movie “The Intern” which stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway which sounds exactly the way the plot is, De Niro plays the 70 year old intern of a modern day start up CEO which is Hathaway’s character in the movie just gave me the feels. Here’s why;
1. Do we really think our aged parents want to just stay home bored? According to thing trailer he tried everything society usually suggests retirees should do when they are out of work. In his words, “In retirement, there’s an ongoing relentless effort in creativity,” De Niro says. “I tried yoga, learned to cook, bought some plants, took classes in Mandarin — believe me, I’ve tried everything. I just know there’s a hole in my life and I need to fill it. Soon.”
Needless to say, he fills this void with the intern ship at an online fashion website.
2. We really need this “old” people to keep us centred and remind us why we started what we did and far we can go if we had an experienced person by our side. We need their old ideals to fast track our brilliant ideas for a better future
3. Even the older people have a whole lot to learn from millennials; When you’re done saying “Children and technology these days” take step back and recognise that edge they have over you,learn it and keep improving because not everything can be learnt from a textbook. A lot of rich millionaires are looking for the kind of interesting lives we have now that we are young and poor, a life filled with the ideas of exactly what you want for yourself whether it makes money or not.
